SURF COACH & FORMER PRO SURFER
“The things I love the most is the ocean and inspiring women to overcome adversity to achieve their goals and dreams.”
Belén’s talents in the water and her passion for surfing led her to a career as a Billabong-sponsored professional surfer/free surfer. She spent 15 years travelling the world filming for movies and magazines promoting women’s surfing. After moving from Hawaii to Australia, Belén founded Salty Girls Surf School. Belén was recently awarded the Aloha award by @surfing_NSW for her ongoing commitment to provide a place for women – teens and young girls to come and feel safe, supported, educated about all things ocean, waves, connection and community.
Belen will be our MC and host for our special IWD Celebration, including the “The Modern Rise of Women’s Professional Longboarding”: Forum hosted by Belén Alvarez Kimble & Sarra Robertson. The modern rise of women’s professional longboarding in Australia during the mid to late 90s and into the 2000s is best told through the platform that the Noosa Festival of Surfing provided then, as it does now.
