Jalaan Slabb

SURFBOARD SHAPER

At just 16, Jalaan Slabb has already made a name for herself in the male dominated industry of surfboard construction. Jalaan is a young Indigenous woman from Bandjalung Country, located on the North Coast of NSW.  Born into a surfing family, Jalaan fell in love with the ocean at a young age.

In designing and shaping surfboards, she wanted to create something that connected her to her love for the ocean and her connection to surf and culture. Jalaan’s aim is to connect with people to create something unique and personal and recently shaped a board for 2 x Womens World Surfing Champion Tyler Wright. Respecting the land, the ocean and each other guides her creative process.
